This episode touches nicely on the spread of the Renaissance into France, England, Spain, the Low Countries and the German States, with some comparison to Italy, like Machiavelli.
My favorite part of this episode is the focus on one of my favorite paintings "Dutch Proverbs" by Pieter Brueghel the Elder.
There's a whole lot of crazy stuff going on in this painting! All are meant to represent a particular Dutch Proverb. I wish I knew what they all were! Zoom in on this picture and look at some of what's going on with some of the individual people, like the woman tying up a demon in the bottom left corner. I hope I can see this in person some day!
